How do I import from an existing Tracks install?
The easiest way to import data is to save the txt feed of all your actions.
This import will not preserve any notes you have on your current Tracks location, nor will it carry over completed tasks. At this time this is the only way we support imports from existing Tracks locations, though we are working on providing a more automated process in the future. |

Tracks is free, why should I pay for it?
Tracks the application is free and open-sourced, meaning anybody can download it, install it and modify it for their own use. However, you have to know how to install a Ruby on Rails application and setup and provision a SQL database to use it. Then, it is only installed on your laptop or desktop and won't be accessible if you have it turned off or are away from that one computer. GTDTracks.com lets you access your Tracks from any computer with internet access. We also provide managed upgrades, ensuring we're always using the latest version of Tracks that doesn't have any major flaws and daily backups so your data is safe. Beyond that we're also available for support questions and to help you use Tracks. To top it all off we maintain a blog that let's you know of any upgrades or outages and for useful Tracks tips. Whew! All these services cost time and money, which is why we charge a minimal fee to join. Our main purpose is to expand the Tracks community and provide it with a valuable service. |
